How can I treat exertion headaches from lifting weights?
I've been lifting weights for about a year and a half now, and I have faced exertion headaches in the past, but these past few months I've been exertion headache free up till yesterday. I get throbbing, almost migraine like symptoms through mainly compound exercises like upright machine chest presses and cable deadlifts. I'm drinking plenty of fluids and I'm making an effort to breathe as uniformly as possible in order to transport enough oxygen and blood to my head. High blood pressure, possibly? I just want this to end so I can feel less lazy. Any suggestions?

How do you cure an exertion headache from lifting?
Two days ago while at the gym I was doing some pull ups. I was slowly lowering myself on my last rep, when all of a sudden I got a severe throbbing headache. This headache lasted for about 10 minutes then went away. After it subsided, I finished my workout, making sure that I took it easy. I took yesterday off, but proceeded to continue my workout routine for today. I did my warmup stretching and a set of light bench presses and then did my first set of benching. When I got to my last few reps on my first set, the headache sarted up again. Needless to say, I ended my workout there.I focus on good form ever since I hyper extended my back last year. I also try to keep myself well hydrated and stretch before I begin my workout. A few years ago, when I ran track in high school, I would get similar headaches after I would finish a race. I'm not sure if this is related to what I am experiencing now. I have been lifing for two years and never got these before from lifting.I did some research, and I feel that what I am experiencing is an exertion headache. Has anyone else experience these, and if so, what did you do to treat them? Do they usually go away with rest? I plan on taking this next week off, and see if they return when I start up again.

Pain in my head-exertion headache, need help?
i asked a similar question which was answered as a strain in my neck, but now i am wondering if this is serious enough where i have to see the doctor. to give more of what keeps happening to me, it hurts in the back of the neck, then hurts in my temples like the worst headache u could have and stays for hours and if i keep pushing it lifting or exercising where pressure gets to my head i usually get dizzy . Or will it go away soon because i dont want to stop lifting because spring football is coming up and yet we still need to weightlift year round for it

Does an exertion headache caused by weightlifting commonly set off easy after the first occurance?
Recently i was working out and on the incline bench press. I was pushing very hard, i was pushing my chest out and tilting my head backwards on the bench. I experienced a very sharp pain in the back of my head and tension in my neck that almost made me pass out. I discontinued my workout and attempted to finish the workout the next day by working out my tri's. I did three sets of skullcrushers and then went to the cables and got another exertion headache. After waiting a few minutes and breathing properly i tried again and it got worse.The next day i was masturbating and as i got close to climax i got one, a bad one. I took it easy for a day then tried again and got another one. I did NOT warmup in my workouts. and recently it seems that even bending over will trigger a small headache. I'm a college student and quite frankly cant afford an MRI, it seems to be a common problem on the internet, most people just wind up with a sinus infection or something.Am i going to be this way for the rest of my life?Would a strain in your neck cause this to happen?What can i do to make them stop?How long should i wait before going back to the gym?If i did strain my neck how long will it take for that to heal? and what can i do to fix it.Will drinking alcohol affect anything?the only supplement im taking is precision engineered TEST STACK if that helps.diet is low fat high protein.i have no pain in my neck. just a slight feeling of tension.

How long do i have to stop working out for exertion headaches to stop?

Why do I get exertion headaches and how can I cure them?
After exercise I get these pounding headaches that last until I go to sleep for at least three hours. Mild exercise like climbing the stairs sometimes has the same effect but shorter . I'd really like to know how to get rid of them, though I know they are not life threatening.

Anybody know anything about exertion headaches and how to overcome it?
If anyone can tell me how to prepare before a football match knowing that a migraine is inevitable, i would appreciate it too.

Exertion headache/migraine through exercise?
Hello. This previous monday I was doing squats and at the bottom of the lift I believe I held my breath and I the left side of my head starting pounding for a few minutes and then eased out. I tried to continue but I couldn't and I just called it a day. The next day tuesday I tried to lift again but the pulsating headache appeared on the left side of my head again and I called it a day very shortly. I went into the doctor and my blood pressure is high, and he said I probably had a " sudden migraine" . I did research on my own and i found out that when u hold ur breath in lifting your BP goes up, PLUS add on my existng BP and thats what made me had that headache or migraine. Also, migraines typically happen on one side of the head sometimes during physical activity, the definition of an exertion headache was both sides of the head so I think it was a migraine. I looked at my diet even though its almost perfect I learned that some vegetables have a lot of salt. My sodium intake at the time was 5000MG, double over the limit. So I rearanged my diet and now I'm taking in 3000MG, replaced canned veges with frozen foods. I took my BP again today saturday and it was a little lower but still high. The doc also noted that she saw i was taking creatine and shes heard of people having high BP when taking creatine so i stopped taking that. My head still feels a little " tight" , best way i can describe it, but im afraid to do any physical activity i dont want to reagravate it.

Exertion headache--> cerebral aneurysm?
yesterday i had a terrible exertion headache when i played basketball. i went to the neurologist today and she said an aneurysm is a possibility but she said she doesn't think i have one although it's impossible to tell b c there are some cases where symptoms aren't felt until it ruptures and you die so she recommended an MRI just to make sure. how does the exertion headache relate to an aneurysm? i've looked online a little about both and i think IF i did have an aneurysm, an exertion headache could trigger it by dialating my blood vessels which could rub against the aneurysm causing pain? also, about the exertion headache, she told me i need to stop playing when i start to have one, stay hydrated, warm up properly and to take advil an hour before playing and if advil doesn't work she'd perscribe different medicine but what if the exertion headaches aren't prevented by medication, will i just have to deal with them for the rest of my life? thanks
